The Church Dissing Grandma

I'm becoming more and more alarmed at the generational gap in our churches, and especially the venom between them. The main event seems to be the ever continuing fight between the Baby Boomers and their parents, although now the postmoderns seem to have joined the fight against the poor old people too.

Ingrid at her blog, Slice of Laodicea recently wrote a post in which she talked about how many churches have on their outer signs,

"We’re NOT your Grandma’s church!"

Maybe I need to remind the postmoderns (18 to roughly 35) a few facts. While your parents were working/divorcing/separating/other, who brought you up? Who gave you a safe place to stay and who encouraged you? And now you are allowing these "kewl" pastors to brain-wash you against them?

Do ya think mabye the grandparents might know a thing or two about spirituality? About the Christian life? Maybe grandma and grandpa weren't sitting in their rocking chairs all their lives.

Maybe it's time to start listening to Grandma and Grandpa instead of dissing them.

Do read the link to the Slice post above. Ingrid said so many good things on this subject.
