I heard a neat program on a local Christian station a few days ago. In the vast wasteland of Christian radio, this was an improvement. The speaker was talking about dog theology vs. cat theology. I had never heard these terms before so my ears perked up. He explained that dog theology is: When you hear that someone loved you and died for you and will take care of you, your response is one of gratitude as to how fortunate you are and how you will do whatever this person wants.
Cat theology is when you hear the same thing and come to the conclusion that you must be very important if someone did all of that for you.
We used to have dog theology but I think recently the evangelical church has slipped into cat theology. What do you think?

Yes, much of the Church has drifted into "Cat Theology."
Not to mention the Prosperity cult with it's "give me,give me,give me"
attitude.
And while I have been blessed
mightily by some Protestant/ Evangelical teachings, there is something sorely missing in Evangelical Theology which enables "Cat Theology."
This Theology often falls flat because it is not obedient to any authority. Thus, some believe in the Pre-Trib. Rapture(man's teaching), yet disbelieve in the power of water Baptism (Christ's explicit teaching!)--I'm not discounting "spiritual baptism", but both bring graces. But, what does the Bible really say on these matters?--Yes, be born of the Spirit AND "go forth and baptize them in the name of the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit."
Furthermore, the problem really is that most Christians don't understand suffering and how it can purify us.
Just do what Jesus did and the world WILL come against you,
thus you become more forged into
Christ's image and better prepared for Heaven. Any Christian who
has not had anyone displeased with them is lukewarm to say the least.
In the end, The Church will have what it had in the beginning--Spiritual gifts from a relationship
with the Holy Spirit and the 7Sacraments given to us by Christ (Water Baptism,Confession, Mar-riage, Ordination,Communion, Annointing of the Sick, and Confirmation)
It's not "either or", but "both and."
If you can't tell already, I am
a Charismatic Catholic. I practice
what the Early Church taught and did. Yes, some Catholics refuse to follow the Spirit (as do some Protestants/Evangelicals), but I challenge anyone to go to a Catholic Eucharistic Adoration Chapel where Christ is present under the appearance of the
Eucharist (Communion) and tell me they don't feel the Holy Spirit.
Please do this, you will be blessed!
Read Mt26:26-28 and John 6:46-51
The Word of God made flesh is present under the appearance of
bread form the Lord's Supper.
Before anyone judges (using
preconceived notions and man's
theology) please go to an Adoration Chapel and worship
the Lord under the appearance of the Eucharist.--You WILL be blessed.
But until you can make it there,
please visit Savior.org It has
a 24 hour a day camera on an
Adoration Chapel. Even without
being there you WILL feel the Lord.----God bless!
