I Am Also a Happy Pentecostal...:)

More and more I am realizing that I'm adhering to Pentecostal theology as I've sorted through what my doctrinal belief will be for the past three and half decades. I find that I don't have many fellow travelers, but one I've found is Peter Smythe. In his blog today he writes why he is a Happy Pentecostal, and after reading it, I have to say what he wrote is my testimony too. No Kidding.

You can read his thoughts on why he is calling himself a Happy Pentecostal here.

Hi Diane--I've just discovered your blog, and am devouring it.
Have to tell you why I am a Happy Ex-Pentacostal.
I've less of a passion for the "gifts" and more of a passion for the "Giver".
No more guilt not being healed or not having finances appear because "there is sin in the camp" or "you didn't have enough faith".
No more having to suspend the truth of living in a truly fallen world with it's limitations on this mortal body, because we are in this world, even though we are not of it.
However, I am a part now of a mainline denomination, and am happy to have a Father who accepts me as I am, while challenging me to get off my behind and GROW. And while I understand the social concerns of the Emergent Church, throwing out the Gospel, or making it secondary to serving the least among us is, frankly, heresy.
I am learning and growing, as are you, and happy to have found your blog. I'll be back!
