Submitting to All Men?

An interesting topic came up in my Christian chat room. Are all Christian women supposed to submit all Christian men? Is this what the New Testament teaches? Or do the references to "women" and "men" actually mean wives and husbands? Some NT passages are very clear that the reference is to wives and husbands, but others, such as I Timothy 2:12, may not.

I found a very good article that discusses this dillemma. It's called "Women, Stop Submittimg to Men!"

A wonderful article.

Of course even in submission within marriage, men need to understand what loving submission really means and know that they are called to love their wives as Christ loved the church. Too many men want submission without wanting to give their lives for their wives.

1 Timoth 2:12 doesn't seem to support women submitting to ALL men at all. It simply states that women should not exercise authority over men in the church or presume a teaching role over men in the church. Unless a man is an elder, or in another office of authority of the church, that man is in a position equal to that of all the women of the church. Anyone who takes another interpretation is not reading the text properly.

Too often in our culture, women are pressured to submit to men, as a category.
This is the reason so many women, even feminist women, are consumed with what men, in general, think of them.christian dating
